About Me

Caren is not my real name, it's actually my pen name used for writing, which I borrowed to use as my username on all forums I'm on.

Caren Mackensie Rose has been my pen name since early 2004, when I chose it semi-randomly during my 9th grade algebra class.

(Rose was the actual last name of a girl in my art class.  Karen with a "K" was the name of a friend from synagogue, and my name Caren was influenced by but not directly derived from hers.  My previous "pen name," from when I was 12 years old, was Mackensie C. Price.  I decided the C. stood for Caren, and went from there.)

I'm 20 years old (as of June 2010), and I've been writing stories for as long as I can remember.  I've had the Sims 2 since December of 2007, but only recently have learned how to take good pictures, and how to create custom content.

I *love* neurology, and I'm pretty fond of psychology ... so you'll see a lot of both in all my stories.  I've done a ton of research about neuro-related stuff, so I love to geek out a bit in my stories. ;)

I also like Star Trek (just about all of it), and my biggest story, Picking Up The Pieces, is a Star Trek sim story, set 45 years after Star Trek: Nemesis chronologically.  Check it out even if you're not all that into Star Trek, because it's really much more about the characters than Star Trek in general.

To answer a few Frequently Asked Questions:

  • No, I do not work in the medical field.
  • No, I am not a neurologist.
  • No, I do not have epilepsy, or any other neurological disorder ... that I know of.
  • Yes, I did totally buy a textbook from a thrift store called The Neurobiology of Disease for $5, read at least 1/3 of it in two weeks, then discover it's a med-school textbook.  Yay!
  • (No, I didn't understand 100% of it.  But yes, I did understand most of it.)
  • Yes, I am a total geek, and yes, I love it!
  • I'm a manager at McDonald's.
  • I am an INTJ.  That means I am awesome.  (lol)
